Two cylinder bombs seized from forest in Maoist-hit Jharkhand

CHATRA: Security forces recovered two cylinder bombs from Maoist-hit Kujram forest in Chatra district of Jharkhand on Friday during a joint operation in the area by district police and 190 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), led by CRPF assistant commandant Manish Kumar.

Commandant Manoj Kumar of the CRPF battalion said: "The ultras planted two bombs, targetting polling parties and police personnel in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election, to disrupt the electoral process.
Our teams defused both the bombs."

"Continuous search operations are on by CRPF and district police in the Naxalite-affected areas of Chatra. Any Maoist activity or attempt to spread terror during the election process will be dealt with firmly," he said.

Security forces have also seized bomb-making material, wires, and daily essential items, apart from the two bombs that weighed 5kg and 2kg, respectively.
