Former Bengaluru Police commissioner Bhaskar Rao injured in road accident as car topples 3 times

BENGALURU: Bhaskar Rao, the former police commissioner of Bengaluru met with a severe road mishap on April 23, according to his social media post. In the accident, his SUV overturned three times causing him to sustain significant injuries.

The former top cop of Bengaluru, who had previously served as the vice-president of the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Karnataka unit before joining the BJP, suffered multiple fractures along his ribs, vertebra, and metatarsals, as per his post on X.


Rao and three companions were travelling from Anantpur to Kadri in Andhra Pradesh in a Toyota Innova Hybrid Hycross when they narrowly avoided a head-on collision with a truck. However, their vehicle grazed against the truck, causing it to overturn three times. Venky, one of the passengers, sustained severe injuries and was admitted to the ICU.

Rao experienced fractures and some trauma, while the other two passengers, Kiranna and Babu escaped with minor injuries. On Thursday night, Rao used the social media platform X to share details of the incident, including images of the severely damaged SUV. The injured individuals were initially transported to a remote Primary Health Center in Bathpally before being transferred to Anantpur for further treatment.

"On 23 April, I had a serious road traffic accident while driving between Anantpur and Kadri(Andhra Pradesh) in Toyota Innova Hybrid Hycross. Due to Road construction and mix up of lanes without any warning, avoiding Head on Collision with a Tipper, severely brushed against the oncoming truck.our vehicle rolled over three times. All four of are alive . Venky is severely injured and in ICU. I have multiple fractures of Ribs and Vertebra and Metatarsals and trauma.. KirAnna and Babu are safe. Seatbelt and Airbags saved us," Rao wrote on X.

In his social media post, Rao commended the Andhra Pradesh government for its effective management of the remote government health center. He expressed his admiration for the unknown leader within the government who has been responsible for this remarkable achievement.
"Somewhere some good leader is sitting in Government who has done an excellent job," he noted in his post.

“KirAnna emerged and pulled us out and took us to Primary Health Center, Bathpally. I must admire the efficiency of a remote government health center of @AndhraPradeshCM government. It had 3 Drs. ECG n lots of equipment, air conditioners, a medical counsellor and helpful staff. It had an ambulance which shifted me to Anantpur. They informed my wife. Somewhere some good leader is sitting in Government who has done an excellent job,” Rao wrote.
