Schools and colleges are often shut down on election days mainly because of safety concerns. Elections can bring about increased tension and security issues, especially in areas with a history of violence during elections or where there's a risk of disruption. By closing educational institutions, authorities want to keep students and staff safe and avoid any disturbances during voting. It also helps in the smooth movement of election officials and voters since schools and colleges are commonly used as polling stations. This step also encourages more people to take part in voting without fretting about their usual activities being interrupted.
