MUMBAI: A week after students from a premier management institute complained against their online proctors for harassing them after the exams, the institute has filed a police complaint. The authorities did not divulge any information on the complaint, but insisted that they would pursue the matter to a logical end. A local police officer, however, claimed that no FIR has been filed. The institute formed an internal committee comprising deans and their legal representatives and it is expected to submit a detailed report by next weekend.

The students’ community, however, are not happy about the institute’s response to the incident. The institute should terminate the contract with the agency and also ensure that in-house teachers are proctoring the exams next time, said a student, who was also harassed by one of the proctors. The agency, Mercer Mettl, terminated four proctors – two each from Bengaluru and Gurgaon – based on complaints from students and also claimed to have initiated police action against them.
