Did you know Salman Khan encouraged Katrina Kaif to sign 'New York'?

Katrina Kaif is well-known for her impeccable fashion sense, exceptional dancing skills, and captivating beauty.

The 'Merry Christmas' actress has many hit films to her credit, one of them being 'New York', directed by Kabir Khan. But did you know Katrina wasn’t too keen on doing the film? Yes, you read it right!

In an interview with Mashable India, filmmaker Kabir Khan recalled that when Katrina arrived, it was going to be her inaugural film with Yash Raj. She seemed a bit let down upon hearing the film's concept. She had expected a romantic tale with music and dance, questioning the nature of the project.

Kabir Khan reminisced about a lucky encounter with Salman Khan during the making of Kabul Express, which ultimately facilitated the casting of Katrina in 'New York'.

Kabir shared that during that time, Katrina was dating Salman. When Salman inquired about her meeting regarding the film, Katrina mentioned that she had met a new director named Kabir Khan, who had offered her a film. She found it interesting but was unsure. Salman advised her to sign the film without hesitation, mentioning that he had met Kabir before.

Kabir also revealed that Katrina recounted this incident many years later, expressing how heartwarming it was that Salman remembered their meeting.

Kabir's 'New York' also starred Neil Nitin Mukesh and John Abraham in lead roles.

Meanwhile, Katrina was last seen in Sriram Raghavan's thriller 'Merry Christmas' alongside Vijay Sethupathi. She is expected to feature in Farhan Akhtar's upcoming film 'Jee Le Zaraa', which will have her alongside Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra.
