Keanu Reeves Joins 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3' as Shadow

Paramount Pictures has announced that Keanu Reeves, famous for his roles in John Wick and The Matrix, will be lending his voice to the character Shadow in the upcoming 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3' movie. Shadow, a popular character from the Sonic video games, is known for his dark and edgy personality, contrasting with Sonic's heroism.

The news follows Paramount's recent presentation at CinemaCon, where they revealed details about the movie, including Jim Carrey's return as Dr. Robotnik. In the film, Dr. Robotnik creates Shadow the Hedgehog to regain his confidence after the events of 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2'. Shadow, introduced in the Sonic games in 2001, possesses powers similar to Sonic's but with a darker twist.

Paramount's Sonic movie franchise has been successful, with the first installment released in 2020 and its sequel in 2022. Both films performed well at the box office, signaling a resurgence of interest in video game adaptations. Jeff Fowler directs all three movies, with Ben Schwartz voicing Sonic and James Mardsen portraying Sonic's human friend, Tom Wachowski.

Keanu Reeves has been a staple in blockbuster films, recently starring in 'John Wick: Chapter 4' and reprising his role as Neo in 'The Matrix: Resurrections'. In addition to 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3', Reeves will appear in Aziz Ansari's 'Good Fortune' and the John Wick spinoff, 'Ballerina', alongside Ana De Armas.
