Director Hansal Mehta gave his thoughts on the movie 'Laapataa Ladies,' a comedy-drama directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan. The filmmaker, who recently watched the movie, expressed his thoughts and opinions, praising it for its straightforwardness and humor.
Today, April 27, Hansal Mehta shared his heartfelt review of the movie on his Twitter account.
He stated, “Saw the very big-hearted and moving Laapata Ladies. Sometimes all that is needed is simplicity and clarity. This film is that.”

Saying that the movie was better than he expected, Mehta added, “I went in expecting more and finished with more than it apparently delivers.” He continued, “It is old-fashioned in a good way and modern in a very invisible manner. It is deceptively simple in its treatment and humor.”

'Laapataa Ladies' tells the story of two brides who accidentally swap places on a train. Their journey and experiences result in a heartwarming story of self-discovery. The movie has received praise for its clever jokes and acting.

The film is adapted from a story by Biplab Goswami, which won awards. Sneha Desai wrote the screenplay and dialogue, with additional dialogue by Divyanidhi Sharma. Even before it came out in theaters, the movie gained worldwide attention. It was shown at the famous Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023, where it got a standing ovation.

Now, Laapataa Ladies is available for streaming on OTT.
