With no less than five releases this year, Ajay Devgn is turning into a 'movie making' machine: An analysis

If the year 2023 belonged to Shah Rukh Khan who delivered three back to back superhits in Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, the year 2024 can easily be called Ajay Devgn’s year. The man has no less than five releases this year, and he already has opened his account with a successful film Shaitaan which has collected about Rs 114 crore in 2 weeks at the box office.
His next is going to be Maidaan with Amit Ravindernath Sharma as the director. Releasing on Eid, the film, which has been in the waiting for many years, is clashing with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
Post this will be his first collaboration with Neeraj Pandey for Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha along with his old friend Tabu, and on 15th August he will come with Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty. And he will end the year with Raid 2, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta and has Vaani Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh and Saurabh Shukla in the lead.
But this is not all, unlike Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan or Aamir Khan, Ajay is speeding ahead with his next year’s slate as well. While SRK is still contemplating his next movie, Salman is just zeroing down on his next with AR Murgadoss and Sajid Nadiadwala, and Aamir has Sitaare Zameen Par on the floor. On the other hand, Ajay has his hands full with multiple films. First being De De Pyaar De’s sequel with Tabu and Rakul PReet Singh which is expected to go on floors by year end and release in May next year. Ajay is also supposed to start working on Inder Kumar’s next installment of Dhamaal and work on Shaitaan 2 has also begun. There has also been talks about Son of Sardaar 2 as well.
Post the success of Shaitan, Ajay has zeroed down on another horror script which will have his wife Kajol in the lead. The film has been titled Maa and will be directed by Vishal Furia. Also a couple of days back, it was reported that Ajay has teamed up with Tigmanshu Dhulia and Priti Vinay Sinha to make a film on Ramchandra Guha’s book titled A Corner of a Foreign Field: The Indian History of a British Sport, based on the life of Baloo, the country’s first Dalit cricketer.
