EEMA representatives meet Nitin Gadkari to discuss key issues faced by the entertainment sector

A delegation from EEMA ( Event & Entertainment Management Association) met Nitin Gadkari , Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises to discuss key issues faced by the events industry .
The representatives of the events industry say that even though the coronavirus affected nearly all industries, but events industry and conference planners face a daunting challenge.The entertainment sector was forced to reinvent nearly every aspect of their job so that in unlock phase, once people started to gather in person, social distancing could be maintained.

The representatives told the minister that the impact to the entertainment sector has been cataclysmic and discussed the long-awaited industry status for the event business.Roshan Abbas, President, EEMA, said, “EEMA has been working to make the government realise the value of what we do. And Nitin Gadkari had promised to address our issues at
the last EEMA Summit. We are glad he took time to understand the issue and has assured us of
help.”
They main issues discussed were - listing of event management as an exclusive category in the MSME NIC code list under Udyam Registration, to provide focused MSME guidelines and schemes for the Event industry businesses, schemes offering working capital with collaterals at low and affordable interest rates for the sustainability and growth of the event industry and fast track clearances of government dues under the MSME Samadhaan – Delayed Payment Monitoring System.
