Happy Raksha Bandhan 2022: Rakhi Images, Quotes, Wishes, Messages, Photos, Cards, Greetings, Pictures and GIFs

There is no doubt about the fact that the bond between a brother and sister is extremely special. It's distinctive because an opposite-gender sibling can teach you a lot about life and yourself. The fights are different and so is the whole relationship as opposed to a sibling who is the same gender as you.

To celebrate the special brother-sister bond, the festival of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated every year in many parts of South Asia, including India.

On this day, sisters of all ages tie a talisman, or amulet, called the Rakhi, around the wrists of their brothers, symbolically protecting them, receiving a gift in return, and traditionally investing the brothers with a share of the responsibility of their potential care.

In rural north India, large numbers of married Hindu women travel back to their parents' homes every year for the ceremony. Their brothers, who typically live with their parents or nearby, sometimes travel to their sisters' married home to escort them back. On the other hand, in urban India, where families are increasingly nuclear, the festival has become more symbolic but continues to be highly popular.

Raksha Bandhan is observed on the last day of the Hindu lunar calendar month of Shraavana, which typically falls in August. This year, the Raksha Bandhan muhurat on August 11 would remain till the first half of Purnima. It would end at 8:51 pm on August 11. According to scriptures, one should not tie Rakhi during Bhadra (night) because it is believed to be a malicious time wherein no auspicious work should be done. So, people can tie Rakhi after 8:51 pm on 11th August and till 12th August during the Purnima tithi, i.e., up to 7:16 am.
