The world’s largest congregation of religious pilgrims - Kumbh Mela 2019 is all set to commence at Prayagraj from January 15. Lakhs of devotees from different parts of the country will take a holy dip in the sacred river at Sangam ghat, which is thought to cleanse all their sins.


The Sangam ghat is also known as Triveni Sangam due to the confluence of the Ganges, the Yamuna and the invisible Saraswati river at Prayagraj.

The Kumbh Mela, which begins a day after Makar Sankranti , lasts for 55 days.

Apart from taking the sacred dip, you will also get to see the colourful and amazing fair that brings people from different parts of the country together.

You are surrounded with hundreds of unknown people, so do not even think of keeping your phone in your back pocket. Keeping items there may make it very easy for thieves to steal it.


3. Lock your bags

Keep small locks with you to keep your bags safe. As the mela will get very crowded, it will be easy for anyone to open your belongings and steal it.


4. Divide your money

This is one of the most important tips for travelling, never keep all your money in one place. Divide your money by keeping some in your pocket, some in travelling bags and other places. It will ensure that you have some cash in hand, even if someone steals your money.


5. Do not travel heavy
