Makar Sankranti is a Hindu festival celebrated across the country in the month of January.

Makar Sankranti marks the entry of the sun into the zodiac sign of Capricorn, which is called Makara Rashi in Hindi.

The celebration of Makar Sankranti will be on January 15, 2019. On the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti, devotees perform activities such as - taking bath in holy rivers or holy water, offering Naivedhya to Lord Surya (food offered to Lord Sun), Dakshina (charity), perform Shraddha rituals etc.
