Navratri 2020: Goddess Katyayani, the sixth form of Durga and Puja Vidhi and Mantra of the day

The sixth day of Navratri is celebrated to worship Goddess Katyayani , the sixth avatar of Maa Durga . Also known as the warrior Goddess, Devi Katyayani wreaked havoc on Mahisasur.

According to Hindu scriptures, Goddess Katyayani was born in the home of sage, Katya and thus, her name came into being. It is also believed that Goddess Parvati took the form of Katyayani to defeat Mahisasur’s evil doings on Earth.

Devi Katyayani can be seen riding a lion and carrying a lotus step and sword in her right hand.

Maa Katyayani s said to ensure harmony and peace in married life. Someone facing problems in their married life can pray to this Goddess to eradicate any signs of long-lasting issues and obtain a happy marriage. Maa Katyayani can also help remove all negative effects of planet in the horoscope.

Puja Vidhi for the sixth day:

On the sixth day of Navratri, wear yellow clothes after bathing the Shashthi. Then install a statue or picture of Goddess Katyayani in the new temple, the place of worship of the house. Then purify by spraying with Ganges. Place the lamp in front of the mother's statue. Now with flowers in hand, pray to the Devi.

Swarna Vigyan Chakra Sthashtam Durga Trinetram.
