Navratri 2020: Goddess Skandamata, the fifth form of Durga and the Puja vidhi and Mantra of the day

The auspicious festival of Navratri is being celebrated this year, from October 17-25 and the festival brings happiness and joy all around. Today is the fifth day of Navratri and Goddess Skandamata , the fifth avatar of Maa Durga is worshipped by her devotees today.

It is said that when Goddess Parvati gave birth to Lord Kartikeya , also known as Lord Skanda, she came to be known as Devi Skandamata.

She is the symbol of salvation, power and prosperity. She blesses her true devotees with wisdom and all the treasures of the world. Her aura and energy is as brilliant as the sun. People who selflessly devote their lives to her attain all achievements and treasures in life. Praying to the Goddess also purifies the heart and the devotees attain universal salvation. Goddess Skandmata is also known as ‘The Goddess of Fire’ because of her power to protect people from evil powers.

Puja Vidhi for the fifth day:

Devotees offer her red flowers or specifically, hibiscus flowers. One has to do Sadhna of pure Chakra on the fifth day. Sit on a blanket or seat made of Kush and begin to chant the mantra provided below.

Mantra for the fifth day:

Siṅghāsanagatā nityama padmāśritakaradvayā |
śubhadāstu sadā dēvī skanda mātā yaśaśvinī ||
