Dhami: Will pay for food & stay of waiting relatives

DEHRADUN: Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday said that the state government will bear the expenses of travel, food, and stay of relatives of the 41 stranded workers who are coming to the tunnel site to check on their family members trapped inside.

He said that officials have been deputed to co-ordinate in this regard and ensure that besides boarding and lodging, facilities like mobile recharge and transport to and from the tunnel site are also arranged for the family members of the trapped workers

Earlier in the day, Dhami had a telephonic conversation with PM Modi and gave him an update regarding the ongoing relief and rescue operations to evacuate the workers who have been trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel for over nine days now. According to a communique by the CM’s office, the PM is said to have told the CM that “necessary rescue equipment and resources are being provided by the central government and the workers will be safely rescued with mutual coordination between central and state agencies”.
