EPS seeks action against RK Nagar MLA

CHENNAI: Leader of the opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami has sought legal action against DMK RK Nagar MLA J J Ebenezer over a video of the legislator overseeing manual scavenging.

EPS tweeted that the DMK must take strict action against the MLA who permitted a metrowater worker to clean the drainage with bare hands.

Ebenezer earlier on Thursday posted a clarification stating that it was not a drainage and it was a metrowater pipe. “The worker cleared silt that consists of bio waste like leaves. I also was not aware when he got down to clean,” he tweeted.

The incident happened when the MLA inspected the locality under the initiative Ungalai Thedi MLA (MLA at your doorsteps).

Netizens condemned the MLA for not stopping the act and apologising.
