How can RCB still qualify for IPL 2024 playoffs?

NEW DELHI: Following Delhi Capitals ' victory over Gujarat Titans , Royal Challengers Bengaluru ( RCB ) find themselves in a precarious position in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). With just two points from eight matches and a negative run rate of 1.046, their chances of securing a playoff berth seem bleak. However, there's still a glimmer of hope for RCB to turn the tide in their favour with six games remaining.

Currently languishing at the bottom of the table, RCB needs to win all of their remaining matches to have a shot at making it to the final four. Their upcoming clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium holds significant importance in this regard.

If RCB emerge victorious in their remaining fixtures, their points tally would reach 14. To bolster their chances further, they would also need other results to align in their favour, particularly in terms of net run rate (NRR).

Considering the current points table, if the top three teams—Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad—win a specific number of their remaining matches, RCB could potentially secure the fourth spot with 14 points.

Alternatively, in an even more unlikely scenario, RCB could aim for the third position if the top three teams stumble and only manage to win one match each in their remaining fixtures.

However, these possibilities hinge on RCB's ability to not only win their matches but also improve their NRR significantly.

RCB's remaining fixtures include encounters against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans (twice), Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings . Each of these matches presents a crucial opportunity for RCB to claw their way back into contention for a playoff spot.
