'I was just backing...': Rajat Patidar on his match-winning knock

NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bengaluru 's emphatic 35-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL on Thursday marked the end of their six-match losing streak, thanks to Rajat Patidar 's fifty and a stellar performance from the spinners.

Patidar's blistering 50 off just 20 balls provided much-needed firepower to RCB's innings, complementing Virat Kohli's measured 51 off 43 balls.
Opting to bat first, RCB posted a challenging total of 206 for seven.

Despite SRH's formidable batting lineup, which had breached the 250-run mark three times this season, they fell short and could only manage 171 for eight in their 20 overs.

The victory was a significant relief for RCB, who had suffered seven defeats in their first eight games. On the other hand, it marked SRH's third loss in eight matches.

Patidar, who won Player of the Match, expressed clarity in his thinking and a desire to control the controllables.

"I was just keeping the things in my mind that I have to control the controllables. I kept doing the things I was doing for so long. My mindset and technique in my batting, whenever I go back home I try to solve every problem that I face," Patidar said at the post-match presentation.

"I go for the skillful batting setup. [On attacking spinners] Today I was just backing myself to be in good shape to every bowler," Patidar added.
