KKR vs PBKS, IPL 2024 Highlights: Miracle at Eden! Punjab Kings hunt down 262 to pull off highest-ever successful T20 chase

NEW DELHI: With Jonny Bairstow 's remarkable century leading the way, Punjab Kings set a new world record for the highest successful run chase in T20 cricket history. They surpassed the 262-run target set by Kolkata Knight Riders with eight wickets to spare in the IPL on Friday.

Punjab Kings broke South Africa's previous record of 259/4 against West Indies in March last year.
In the IPL, Rajasthan Royals had held the previous record for chasing down 224 against KKR at Eden Gardens, which matched their record from 2020 against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in Sharjah.

Kolkata Knight Riders, who were sent in to bat first, posted 261/6, but PBKS completed the chase with eight balls remaining.

KKR benefited from a 138-run opening partnership between Phil Salt (75 off 37 balls) and Sunil Narine (71 off 32 balls), which put them in a strong position.

However, PBKS began their chase impressively and reached 93 runs for the loss of Prabhsimran Singh 's wicket in the powerplay.

Prabhsimran scored a rapid 54 off just 20 balls before being run out. Bairstow continued his aggressive play to guide PBKS to a spectacular win. Bairstow's 108 off 48 balls was complemented by Shashank Singh 's in-form 68 off 28 balls.
