Punjab Kings smash a plethora of records in epic chase against KKR at Eden Gardens

NEW DELHI: Jonny Bairstow 's remarkable century led Punjab Kings to achieve a historic milestone in T20 cricket by successfully chasing down the target of 262 set by Kolkata Knight Riders , securing victory with eight wickets in hand during the IPL match in Kolkata on Friday.

PBKS surpassed South Africa's record of 259/4 against West Indies in March last year for the highest successful run chase in T20 cricket.

In the IPL, this feat surpassed Rajasthan Royals ' previous record of chasing down 224 against KKR at Eden Gardens, equalling their earlier achievement against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2020 in Sharjah.

After Kolkata Knight Riders posted a formidable total of 261/6, PBKS achieved the target with eight balls to spare in an impressive display.
