A gay couple adopts an HIV positive baby girl and our heart is melting

We had not stopped swooning over the beautiful gay wedding pictures, celebrating pure love and we came across this heart-melting news. A gay couple from Santa Fe, Argentina , has adopted a girl who was with HIV and was rejected by 10 families for the reason. Isn’t this a BIG step towards being human?

The baby girl was born underweight in Olivia in 2014.

The baby was HIV positive and was rejected 10 times by families to be adopted because of her condition. But Damian Pighin, 42 and Ariel Vijarra, the first openly gay couple to get married in Santa Fe and entered her life as true angels. The couple had been looking forward to expand their family when they received a call to be Olivia’s parents. They immediately took her into their family when she was less than a month old.

Isn’t this a great gesture? Being rejected by 10 families also means that a lot of parents look for a perfect kid that they can raise instead of thinking humanly about a suffering one-month old baby.

Ariel and Damien work for ‘Acunar Familias’, a non-governmental organisation, which helps couples to adopt unwanted children. As soon as the couple brought her home, Olivia started to respond to her HIV treatment positively and gained weight. Although HIV is still one of the incurable diseases, her medical reports affirm that the virus was no longer detectable in her blood.
