This is how Sonam Kapoor removes gel nail polish at home

With nation-wide lockdown, the salon visit to remove gel polish manicure seems almost impossible. Unlike regular polishes, this one is tough to remove and peeling it off can actually damage the nail bed. If you're struggling to remove a gel manicure at home sans a salon visit, then you need to check out Sonam Kapoor 's superb hack to remove it at home.

Yes, you can actually remove gel polish at home, without damaging your nails. The actress shared a photo of her toes covered with foil paper. To work this magic, you need to be patient and follow these rules.

Use a nail filer:
You can buff away the top layer of the polish. Don't go too far, just buff away the shiny top coat of the polish.

Apply a cream:
If you have cuticle oil or cream, apply it around the nails to keep your skin soft. You can also use a regular thick cream on the skin around the nail.

Soak some cotton balls:
You need to soak some cotton balls in acetone. If you have big cotton balls, you can cut them off according to your nail size.

Use aluminium foil:
Now, place these cotton balls on your nails and cover them with foil, just like Sonam did. Gel polish needs to be soaked with acetone and not swiped like regular polishes.

Keep this on for 10 to 15 minutes. Ideally in some time, the polish will start peeling off on its own. If you still find any stubborn polish still one, you must repeat the process. However, stay cautious of peeling it, as you can still damage the nail bed. The only time you can peel it off is when you see layer lifted from the nail bed. If not, you can re-soak the toes and wait for sometime.
