BJP & Ajsu-P meet to draw plan for Lok Sabha elections

RANCHI: BJP and Ajsu-P on Tuesday held their maiden joint meeting ahead of the impending Lok Sabha polls and vowed to work towards ensuring victory in all 14 parliamentary seats here, setting aside their differences.

Of the 14 seats, the BJP named candidates in 13, while Ajsu-P has named one in the Giridh seat.

However, the BJP's announcement of a candidate in the Gandey assembly seat for the upcoming bypoll recently upset its alliance partner, which accused the saffron camp of doing so without consulting it.

Ajsu-P chief Sudesh Mahto, after the meeting, however, said that all is well with the alliance.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Mahto, in the presence of BJP state president Babulal Marandi and other senior leaders, said, "Healthy differences are good to strengthen the alliance, and we had discussed our issues and concerns in today's meeting. However, the common goal of the NDA here is to ensure that we win all 14 seats, for which various plans will be afoot both within the alliance and at party levels to ensure proper cohesion to achieve our target."

Marandi, who is an MLA from Dhanwar and a former CM, said that in the 2019 elections, the NDA had won 12 out of 14 seats.

"Our focus is on clinching all 14 seats, for which we are working hard. Although this election is for five years, the BJP, under the Prime Minister's leadership, has prepared a roadmap for India's growth story until 2047. To fulfill this, the Jharkhand NDA is committed to strengthening Modiji's hands to make Viksit Bharat," he said.

Regarding leaders shifting parties, Marandi said it is natural during elections for those who aspired for tickets but failed to get them to switch to other parties. However, both the BJP and Ajsu-P are committed to fighting together not just to retain the seats but to bag all LS seats. "Our focus is also to ensure that both BJP and Ajsu-P workers on the ground work in tandem with a common focus," Marandi added.
