Google Doodle marks Phase 2 of Lok Sabha elections

NEW DELHI: Google unveiled a Doodle marking the second phase of Lok Sabha elections that began at 7am on Friday. Phase 2 of Parliamentary elections is being held in 89 constituencies across 13 states and UT.

By clicking of the Doodle, that shows an inked finger, users are brought search results for the most recent developments on the elections.


Urging everyone to vote, especially "young voters ", PM Narendra Modi said in a post on X, "Urging everyone in constituencies voting today, in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections, to participate in record numbers. A high voter turnout strengthens our democracy. I especially urge our young voters and women voters to turn out in great numbers. Your vote is your voice!"


This phase has 1202 candidates, 1098 males and 102 females, contending for the votes of more than 8.08 crore male and 7.8 crore female voters. The election also includes 5,929 third-gender electors and 34.8 lakh first-time voters.

The Election Commission implemented a variety of initiatives to ensure a seamless and inclusive voting experience. These included webcasting in more than half of polling locations, deploying micro-observers, and establishing model polling stations with local themes.
