Naidu slams Andhra CM Jagan for unleashing false propaganda over minorities reservation

TIRUPATI: TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu slammed chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for unleashing a false propaganda over the minorities reservation . "The YSRCP is full of lies and deceit. While we outrightly supported the reservation for minorities, the YSRCP is spreading lies on the issue", Naidu remarked.

On the sidelines of his two day Nellore district tour, the TDP chief held an interactive session with Muslim minorities at Nellore city on Sunday.

"The YSRCP which pledged support to the NRC and the CAA bills in the parliament, is now crying foul after the TDP forged an alliance with the BJP. In fact V Vijayasai Reddy, who is now contesting from the YSRCP at the Nellore parliament, signed and pledged support to the centre for the two bills", Naidu recalled.

Accusing the ruling party of trying to create a fear psychosis among the minorities over the TDP-BJP alliance , the former CM asked the community to introspect if they faced any problems when the TDP was part of the NDA alliance in the past.

Naidu recalled that it was during the TDP regime that the famous Rottela Panduga at Nellore was declared as a state festival.

"During our regime, we constructed Haj houses at Vijayawada and Kadapa, we established a Shadi mandir at Nellore by spending Rs 8 cr, we introduced the Ramzan Tohfa and declared Urdu as the second language. Can Jagan Reddy explain about his govt's contributions to the Muslim minorities in the last five years", the TDP chief questioned.

Recalling that while the Muslim communities lived a peaceful life during the TDP regime, Naidu said there were a number of incidents of violence unleashed against the community by the YSRCP activists across the state. Abdul Salam at Nandyal committed suicide along with his entire family. A Muslim girl student Misbah committed suicide due to harassment at Palamaner. There are more than 50 such incidents in which the minorities were targeted and the Jagan Reddy govt did nothing to protect them or to ensure such incidents did not repeat, Naidu recalled.

Allaying their fears, Naidu assured to the Muslim minorities that the TDP will always protect their rights and self esteem and announced that after coming back to power, the TDP will provide a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to Haj pilgrims.
