Gear up for the first lunar eclipse of the year tonight

The first lunar eclipse of the year is here and will be visible across India starting at 10.37pm tonight. Speaking to us, Observational Astronomer, Dr SA Mohan Krishna says, “During the penumbral eclipse on the night of January 10 and in the wee hours of Saturday, people can see a slight darkening on the full moon’s face.

This form of eclipse will be visible across the country. This eclipse will be visible in the region covering Europe, Asia, Australia , Africa, Northern and Southern America, Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans and New Zealand. Most penumbral lunar eclipses cannot be easily distinguished from a usual full Moon .”
