How to pin chats in Instagram

Instagram recently introduced a feature that allows you to pin your most frequently used chats to the top of your Direct Message (DM) inbox for easier access. Here's how to pin chats in Instagram:

Using the Instagram App:

Launch the Instagram app and ensure you're logged into your account.

Access your Direct Messages: There are two ways to do this:

• Swipe right from the main Instagram feed.
  
• Tap the Direct Message icon (paper airplane symbol) in the top right corner of the main feed.
  

Locate the chat you want to pin: Find the conversation with the person or group you want to keep at the top of your inbox.

Pin the chat: There are two methods for pinning a chat:

• Swiping Left: Swipe left on the desired chat in your message list. You'll see a "Pin" option appear alongside "Archive" and "Mute." Tap "Pin" to pin the chat to the top.
  

Tap and Hold: Alternatively, tap and hold on the desired chat. A pop-up menu will appear with options like "Reply," "Mute," and "Archive." Select "Pin" from this menu.

Pinned Chats Stay on Top: Once you pin a chat, it will be placed at the top of your DM inbox, regardless of new messages received in other chats. This makes it easy to quickly access your most important conversations.

Unpinning Chats (Optional):

If you decide you no longer want a chat pinned, follow the same steps (swiping left or tapping and holding) and select "Unpin" from the menu to remove it from the pinned section.

Pinning Limitations:

• You can only pin up to three chats** to the top of your DM inbox at a time.
  
• Pinned chats are specific to your account and won't be visible to the other participants in the conversation.
