Clinical psychologists providing counselling to MV Dali crew in Baltimore

HYDERABAD: The crew of MV Dali is currently receiving counseling from clinical psychologists , as informed by the ship management company, Synergy Marine Group , on Wednesday. Through the ship’s satellite communication, the crew members are able to maintain constant contact with their families.

In addition to psychological support, Synergy Marine Group has ensured that food is delivered daily to assist the galley staff and to keep the vessel adequately provisioned.

The Singapore-flagged ship 'MV Dali', carrying 21 Indian crew members and one Sri Lankan crew member, collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore on March 26. The ship was en route to Colombo and was scheduled to arrive on April 22. However, due to the accident, the vessel has remained on the Patapsco River, with various agencies working to remove debris from the collapsed bridge. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the mishap.

"Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the crew during this time is a critical priority for us. We have been actively engaged in a range of actions to support them since the incident," stated Synergy Marine Group.

The company has enlisted workplace mental health specialists with experience in the maritime industry to provide dedicated support to the crew of the MV Dali, including round-the-clock assistance from clinical psychologists.

Meanwhile, the Unified Command has reported that the Captain of the Port (COTP) has established a second temporary alternate channel on the southwest side of the main channel near Hawkins Point in the vicinity of the Francis Scott Key Bridge for commercially essential vessels.

"This action is part of a phased approach to opening the main channel," the Unified Command stated.
