How to make a career in corporate law?

There is growing demand for in-house legal experts in many corporate organisation in India. This is a good news for those willing to make a career in corporate law department. The students can choose to study law after class 12. The integrated courses is known as Bachelor of Business Administration & Bachelor of Legislative Law (BBA LLB ) and the duration of the course is five years.




Entrance tests for law courses

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT): One of the most common national level entrance exam for admission to law courses is Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). The scores of CLAT is accepted by 21 National Law Universities and other law academic institutions in India. The test is conducted at many centres and has multiple choice questions from the following:

  • English including Comprehension
  • Legal Aptitude
  • Logical Reasoning
  • General Knowledge
  • Current Affairs
  • Elementary Mathematics
  • Numerical Ability


  • Law School Admission Test India (LSAT-India): LSAT-India is a paper and pencil test of reading and verbal reasoning skills designed by the USA-based Law School Admission Council (LSAC) for use by law schools in India. The LSAT-India scores are accepted by many private institutions for admission to their undergraduate and postgraduate law courses. The question paper is divided into four sections - analytical reasoning, logical reasoning (in two parts), and reading comprehension.

    Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for LLB (MAH-LLB-CET): The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell conductes Common Entrance Test for admission to integrated law courses. The MAH-LLB-CET scores is used by all state universities, colleges, and institutes.

    State based entrance exams: Many other state governments conduct entrance exams for admissions to law courses in universities within their state. For example: Telangana State Common Law Entrance Test, Kerala LLB (3 years and 5 years) entrance exams.

    University entrance exams: Top Indian universities like - Banaras Hindu university, Rajasthan University, Panjab University, Aligarh Muslim University also conducted their own entrance exams for admission to law courses.
