KU to go paperless, MoU signed with firm to understand varsity functioning, develop software

KURUKSHETRA: The Kurukshetra University (KU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a public sector unit (PSU) of the Government of India, Educational Consultants India Limited (EdCIL) which will work to understand the functioning of the varsity and to develop software for the same.

KU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Kailash Chandra Sharma said "In its commitment towards transparency and efficiency, KU has decided to implement the ( enterprise resource planning ) ERP systems into its functioning. EdCIL, a Mini Ratna PSU of Government of India will help in implementing the ERP systems to make KU a paperless university wherein the file movements will be done online."

The officials told the MoU has been signed by the two institutions. EdCIL will understand the functioning of the university systems and then assist in developing the ERP systems and other requisite software for the same. They said such a move will be help in increasing the efficiency of the University.

KU has been allocated funds under Rashtriya Uchhachhtar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) for implementing the same. The coordinator RUSA and Dean Academic Affairs Prof Manjula Chaudhary said, "Special teams of technical experts will visit all the stakeholders of the University and understand their systems to develop the requisite software to go paperless. This process will be completed and implemented very soon.

On this occasion, several senior functionaries of KU, and Pawan Kumar Sharma, chief general manager of EdCIL were also present.
