KOLKATA: At least two devotees died while 20 others sustained injuries in a stampede at a temple in West Bengal 's North 24 Parganas district on Friday.
The district administration rushed to the spot and launch a massive rescue operation.
According to PTI, chief minister Mamata Banerjee confirmed two deaths in the incident. However the toll is likely to rise considering the number of injured devotees.
Expressing grief over the incident, the CM announced Rs 5 lakh compensation to each of the kin of the deceased.
