Tarn Taran Sikh body to celebrate Baba Guru Nanak's birth anniversary in Bangladesh on November 15
AMRITSAR: Sampardai Kar Sewa, Sarhali, Tarn Taran , a Sikh religious body, will celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev at Gurdwara Nanakshahi, Dhaka , Bangladesh .
While talking to TOI on Thursday, chief of Sampardai Kar Sewa Baba Sukha Singh informed that they would celebrate the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak on November 15 in Bangladesh.
He informed that Indian high commission in Bangladesh was carrying out the repair work including electric wiring , white washing etc. of the Gurdwara.
Baba Sukha Singh informed that Ajaib Singh Boparai, president of Bangladesh management board, Kolkotta, Harbhajan Singh Sandhu, secretary, Sampardai Karsewa Sarhali, Paraslal Begi and Tapas Lal Chaudhary, president and secretary of gurdwara management committee, Dhaka,, respectively, held meetings with Indian deputy high commissioner in Bangladesh, Bishwadip Dey to discuss about the celebration functions.
When asked why they were celebrating the birth anniversary on November 15 instead of November 12, Harbhajan Singh replied “It’s Friday and a holiday, and a large number of followers of Baba Nanak would be able to come”.
He informed that a jatha of Indian Sikhs would also converge at Dhaka gurdwara to pay obeisance to celebrate the birth anniversary.
