Addressing to media persons, Deve Gowda said, “HD Kumaraswamy, who was the Chief Minister heading the coalition government has already declared that we want to contest all 15 constituencies.

He further added, “The suffering Kumaraswamy had faced at the hands of Congress, he does not want it anymore.”

As per the sources, Deve Gowda will hold a meeting with senior party leaders on Sunday to determine further course of action.

By-elections for 15 seats in Karnataka will be held on October 21 announced Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora at a press conference here.

The elections have been necessitated after the then Assembly speaker, K R Ramesh Kumar, had disqualified 17 MLAs which eventually led to the fall of the JD (S)-Congress coalition government headed by then chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Kumaraswamy had resigned as the chief minister after losing the trust vote which paved the way for the BJP-led government in Karnataka under incumbent Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
