BJP aims to increase mass base in Kolkata and adjoining districts

In view of the 2021 assembly elections in West Bengal, the BJP's state leadership has decided to increase its base in Kolkata and its surrounding districts and the Muslim-majority border district of Murshidabad.  After the party's organizational meeting, Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday admitted that the saffron party is weak in districts like South 24 Parganas, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Kolkata, despite making deep inroads in the state.

Ghosh told reporters here, "We have to increase our base in these districts, we have asked the leaders of our organization to bring the party's policies, programs and our achievements at the center to the public."  The BJP had done well by winning 18 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state.  He said that organizational elections are being held in all 79,000 booth-level committees of the state, out of which elections for 64,000 booth-level committees have already been held.
