The Elephant Whisperers gets nominated in International Feature Film category
Netflix documentary short, The Elephant Whisperers bagged an Oscar nomination in the International Feature Film category. The short Tamil documentary is available on Netflix and tells the tale of Raghu, an orphan who was abandoned when his mother was electrocuted.

Plot details...

Raghu travelled in search of food and water before coming across the carers Bomman and Bellie, who revived it and reared it as their own child. It is the tale of Baby Ammu, an infant elephant orphan. Bomman, who can only live with elephants, is the protagonist of the tale. It tells the tale of Bellie, whose ex-husband was killed by a tiger, and how she uses orphaned elephants in her care to replace the vacuum left by the passing of her young daughter. It tells the tale of Bomman and Bellie, who became friends after taking care of the pachyderms together.

It tells the tale of tribal life in which widow remarriages do not cause panic among the populace. In addition, it tells the tale of how human invasion and climate change influence wildlife. Forest fires force elephants to run aground in search of food and water, putting them in danger. A much-needed counterbalance to the story of conflict between humans and wild animals, the movie gently focuses the camera on the human experience.
