FIR against X user for post against Vishwas, wife

Lucknow: Barabanki police lodged an FIR against an X user for allegedly posting defamatory and fake content about Hindi poet Kumar Vishwas and his wife Manju Sharma on social media. The case was registered under Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 67 of the IT (Amendment) Act at Ghungter police station following a complaint by Amar Bajpai, member of an association of the poet's admirers.

According to the complaint, the accused X user, identified as @Dixit_0511 (Dr Shweta Sharma), shared a fake post claiming, "Kumar Vishwas' wife Manju Sharma was caught taking a bribe of Rs 18.5 lakh", along with a forged screenshot.

The complainant alleged that the act was a deliberate attempt to malign the poet's reputation and hurt the sentiments of his supporters. TNN
