Kia India has entered the mainstream electric vehicle market with the launch of the all-new Clavis EV, a feature-loaded MPV designed for the Indian family buyer. Priced from ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Clavis EV comes in four variants and offers two battery options, making it a significant step forward for Kia's electric ambitions in the country. The MPV promises a comfortable seven-seat configuration, practical storage, and technology that enhances both safety and convenience.

Distinct Styling With Electric Touches

While the Clavis EV shares its design DNA with its petrol counterpart, it receives some thoughtful EV-specific updates. The front bumper is slightly restyled with active aero flaps to improve aerodynamic efficiency, while the charging port is now positioned at the front. It also sports a silver-finished lower bumper, new ice-cube-style LED fog lamps, and a useful 25-litre frunk (front trunk). Kia's signature tiger-nose motif is subtly integrated, complementing its road presence.

Spacious Cabin With Thoughtful Features

Inside, the Clavis EV maintains a dual-tone black and beige colour scheme with a combination of fabric and leatherette upholstery. Across all variants, Kia has focused on passenger comfort, offering sliding, reclining and tumbling second-row seats, and a third-row that folds flat for added cargo space. AC vents are embedded in the roof for the second and third rows, and the second row features a centre armrest, enhancing convenience.

The dashboard adopts a floating design with practical touches like a sliding centre console and cupholders. Front seats have map lamps, and the cabin includes multiple USB Type-C ports for device charging. Even the entry variant offers a 12.25-inch infotainment touchscreen and a matching digital driver's display.

The HTK+ is the base model and comes equipped with a 42kWh battery pack. It includes LED headlights and tail-lamps, LED DRLs that double up as indicators, active aero elements, gloss-black 16-inch alloy wheels, and metal-finished front and rear skid plates. It also features keyless entry with remote start, electronically foldable mirrors, and a smart key with motion sensors. The infotainment and climate control systems are operated via a sleek touch panel. Additional highlights include cruise control, paddle shifters for regenerative braking, Eco/Normal/Sport drive modes, and front parking sensors with a rear-view camera.

Clavis HTX: Added Luxury And Choice Of Two Battery Packs

Priced at ₹20.49 lakh (42kWh) and ₹22.49 lakh (51.4kWh), the HTX variant builds on the HTK+ package. It adds 64-colour ambient lighting, navy blue and beige leatherette seats, a panoramic sunroof, and retractable rear seatback tables. The higher-battery variant is also fitted with 17-inch aero-style dual-tone alloy wheels. Voice-controlled power windows, UV-cut glass for better insulation, and premium interior lighting across all three rows are some of its standout features. It also includes a cabin air purifier and more sophisticated driver assistance tech, such as Level 2 ADAS with 20 functions, blind spot monitoring and a 360-degree camera.

Clavis HTX Plus: Flagship Comfort With Premium Audio And Safety

At the top of the range, the HTX Plus variant is priced at ₹24.49 lakh and is only available with the larger 51.4kWh battery. It raises the bar with Kia logo-projection spot lamps on rear doors, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, and rain-sensing wipers. The premium experience is further elevated with an 8-speaker Bose audio system and a front passenger seat that includes a slide lever. This variant also supports V2L (Vehicle to Load) functionality, enabling power supply to external devices during travel or emergencies.

Across all variants, the Clavis EV comes with regenerative braking controls, including Kia’s i-Pedal mode for one-pedal driving.
