Maruti Suzuki India Limited has officially confirmed the launch date of its first electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, in India. Scheduled to debut on 3 September, this highly anticipated SUV was first unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and has since generated significant buzz among car enthusiasts. Currently, Maruti Suzuki offers four SUV models in the Indian market — the Fronx, Brezza, Jimny, and Grand Vitara. Once launched, the e-Vitara will compete directly with popular electric rivals such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv.ev, MG Windsor, MG ZS EV, and Mahindra BE 6.

The upcoming e-Vitara is expected to sport a distinctive design, including stylish three-point matrix LED daytime running lights integrated into the headlamp unit. Adding to its modern aesthetic is a glossy piano black finish in the centre of the headlight. The rear will carry the Nexa branding on the windshield, while newly designed LED taillights, strong C-pillars, and sleek 18-inch alloy wheels complete the dynamic look.

According to reports, the e-Vitara will measure approximately 4,275mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,640mm in height, along with a 2,700mm wheelbase. It will feature an advanced 3-in-1 powertrain integrating the motor, inverter, and transmission for improved efficiency.
Buyers can expect two battery variants: a 49kWh battery paired with a front-mounted motor producing 144hp and 189Nm of torque, and a larger 61kWh battery delivering 174hp with the same torque. The higher-capacity battery is likely to offer over 500km of driving range, although official figures have yet to be announced. Additionally, the 61kWh model might include an all-wheel-drive (AWD) option for enhanced performance.

Safety features are likely to include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), seven airbags (including a driver knee airbag), electronic parking brake, disc brakes on all four wheels, e-Call emergency support, and a tyre pressure monitoring system, making it one of the most feature-rich electric SUVs in its segment.
