Firefighters and emergency responders rushed to the spot soon after the blaze broke out. Teams worked for hours to control the fire and search for those trapped inside the building, as panic spread among locals and tourists nearby.

BJP MLA Michael Lobo said he was deeply shaken by the tragedy. He confirmed that the victims included three women and 20 men, with several tourists among them. However, most of those who lost their lives were local staff members working in the basement when the fire broke out. According to him, many victims died of suffocation after smoke quickly filled the lower levels. “Most people died due to suffocation as they ran towards the basement," he said.

Lobo also called for immediate safety audits of all clubs and restaurants across Goa to prevent such disasters in the future, stressing that strict enforcement of fire safety rules is urgently needed.
