State govt sanctions funds to improve Thirumullavaram beach facilities
Thiruvananthapuram: The state govt has given administrative sanction of Rs 5 crore for works to improve facilities at Thirumullavaram beach, which forms part of the Kollam-Thangassery coastal tourism circuit and Fort renovation project. This was one of the tourism projects proposed during Nava Kerala Sadas held in Kollam assembly constituency.
Tourism minister P A Mohamed Riyas said the completion of the project would strengthen beach tourism in the area. Thirumullavaram and Thangassery have traditionally been major tourist attractions of Kollam, famed for their beauty and history. Ramping up the facilities at the beach has been a long-pending need, the minister added.
The works to be taken up as part of the project include electronics, electrical and civil works.
