Viral Video: Robot Dog Strolls Through Bengaluru Streets, Leaves Citizens Amazed
Bengaluru is used to turning heads, but this time, a dog did it, one made of metal, circuits, and some serious tech muscle. PARAM, the indigenous robot dog that has been buzzing across the Internet, was recently spotted strolling through HSR Layout, leaving locals equal parts stunned and curious.
A viral clip shared by X handle @Runtime shows the four-legged machine casually trotting along the street, almost like it belongs there. Weighing 35 kg and packing an eight-hour battery backup with hot-swappable cells, PARAM is clearly built for long hauls.
“This is so much more impressive when you realise that this robot dog is almost entirely indigenous. Only non-Indian parts are the actuators + Nvidia Jetson GPU. Oh, and it was built by a team of 5 people in 30 days. IP67 rated, running temperature: -20C to +55C,” Caleb wrote on X.
As expected, the Internet went into full debate mode. Many applauded the innovation, calling it a proud moment for Indian tech. One user wrote, “Impressive work, our technocrats and your reporting needs more appreciation and support.”
Others questioned the software side of things, arguing that 30 days may be too short to develop a sophisticated robotic system. And of course, some compared PARAM to global giants, wondering if it could someday take on Boston Dynamics, especially if mass production becomes affordable.
India’s tech scene, however, seemed energized. “India is waking up to its potential,” one user commented, capturing the overall sentiment.
Meanwhile, robot dogs have been having quite a cultural moment worldwide. A separate viral video featured robotic dogs with the faces of Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos as part of Beeple’s futuristic art installation titled Regular Animals. These robo-creatures can walk, sit, and lie down proving that whether it's Bengaluru streets or global art scenes, robot dogs are everywhere.
With PARAM now entering the chat, India’s robotics journey just got a whole lot more exciting.
