10 Years of Bajrangi Bhaijaan: Salman Khan's Biggest Blockbuster Wasn't Shot in Pakistan, Here's Where It Was Filmed
Salman Khan’s iconic film Bajrangi Bhaijaan has completed 10 years since its release. The emotional drama, which hit theatres on 17 July 2015, became the biggest box office success of Salman’s career, earning ₹922 crore worldwide. On this special occasion, Salman shared nostalgic behind-the-scenes photos from the film's shoot, reflecting on the journey with co-stars and the film’s crew.
Though the storyline of Bajrangi Bhaijaan focused on India-Pakistan relations and included scenes of Salman’s character traveling to Pakistan, the movie was not shot in Pakistan. Instead, the breathtaking landscapes of Kashmir served as the primary backdrop. Locations such as Sonmarg, Zojila Pass, and Pahalgam were used to depict cross-border regions, adding authenticity and visual grandeur to the narrative.
Salman Khan’s portrayal of Pavan (aka Bajrangi) touched audiences across the globe. He was joined by Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui (who played a journalist), and Om Puri in key roles. One of the most memorable characters was Munni, the mute girl played by Harshaali Malhotra, who became a fan favorite. Today, Harshaali has grown up, and her pictures often go viral online.
To commemorate the film’s 10-year milestone, Salman Khan shared throwback photos featuring himself, director Kabir Khan, and co-star Kareena Kapoor. He captioned the post simply: “Bajrangi Bhaijaan completes 10 years.” Alongside him, Ayush Sharma (Salman’s brother-in-law and assistant director of the film) also shared memories from the set.
Directed by Kabir Khan, with music by Pritam, the heartwarming story was penned by V. Vijayendra Prasad, father of filmmaker SS Rajamouli. The film’s emotional depth, stellar performances, and scenic visuals made it a cinematic milestone in Indian film history.
Even a decade later, Bajrangi Bhaijaan continues to be remembered as a timeless tale of humanity, love, and hope across borders—shot entirely within the mesmerizing terrains of India.
