F1 LIVE: Lewis Hamilton learns investigation outcome as Fernando Alonso sanctioned

George Russell will begin the race in pole position and will start ahead of Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli on the starting grid at the Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will be next on the grid as both McLaren drivers will begin the race in P3 and P4 respectively on Sunday. Lewis Hamilton will begin the race in fifth place with Ferrari, while Max Verstappen and his Red Bull will be in sixth place on the starting grid.

Hamilton was summoned to see the stewards after being accused of potentially impeding impeding Pierre Gasly during qualifying, with the FIA confirming their decision.
