Among the 45 players in the INR 2 crore base price category are big international names such as Cameron Green, Liam Livingstone, Matheesha Pathirana and Wanindu Hasaranga . On the Indian side, Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi are the only two players to place themselves in the top bracket, making this year’s IPL auction even more intriguing.

A massive total of 1355 players registered for the IPL 2026 auction, and the longlist has now been circulated among all franchises. This comes after the registration window officially closed on November 30. Teams will now study the longlist in detail to select their preferred players ahead of the final pool announcement.

With only 77 slots available, the IPL 2026 auction will be extremely competitive. Out of these, 31 spots are reserved for overseas players, which means franchises must balance their strategy carefully when shortlisting their targets for the auction.

As teams prepare their shortlists by December 5, all eyes are on the December 16 IPL auction in Abu Dhabi. This event will play a key role in shaping squads for the 2026 season, with several franchises aiming to rebuild or strengthen their line-ups.

One of the biggest talking points is the return of Cameron Green in the INR 2 crore bracket. The Australian allrounder missed the 2025 mega-auction due to a back injury, but he continues to be one of the most sought-after players thanks to his all-round abilities. His batting, bowling and athletic fielding make him a prime target for franchises.

Franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings carry huge interest heading into the IPL auction. KKR has a massive purse of INR 64.3 crore, while CSK has INR 43.4 crore. Both teams also have multiple overseas vacancies, making them strong contenders for high-value international players.

KKR is expected to bid aggressively in the IPL 2026 auction, especially after the retirement of Andre Russell. CSK, too, is in need of a strong overseas core after releasing key names before the upcoming season.

Several released players have entered the INR 2 crore price bracket, including Matheesha Pathirana, who was let go by CSK despite being a crucial death bowler. Liam Livingstone, released by RCB after a difficult season, has also chosen the top category ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.

On the Indian front, Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi have opted for the highest base price. Both were previously retained for significant amounts, and their decision to enter the 2 crore bracket signals their confidence in attracting strong bids from other franchises.

One notable absence in the IPL 2026 auction longlist is Glenn Maxwell. The Australian allrounder fractured his finger during IPL 2025, raising questions about his fitness and future availability for the league.

However, Australia’s wicketkeeper Josh Inglis has returned to the auction pool. Inglis played a crucial role in guiding Punjab Kings to the IPL 2025 final. Although he is only available for 25 per cent of the 2026 season due to personal reasons, he remains in the 2 crore bracket and could still attract bids from teams needing an impactful short-term overseas option.

A diverse group of international players from 14 countries has registered for the IPL 2026 auction. Big names like Steve Smith , Mustafizur Rahman, Rachin Ravindra and Gerald Coetzee headline this list. Young talents including Jake Fraser McGurk and Jamie Smith have also joined the pool, adding more excitement to the upcoming auction.

Veteran allrounder Shakib Al Hasan, who has played 71 IPL matches across nine seasons, has set his reserve price at INR 1 crore. His experience could make him an interesting option for teams looking for reliability.

Alongside the overseas stars, 16 well-known Indian players have joined the auction, including Mayank Agarwal, KS Bharat, Rahul Chahar, Prithvi Shaw and Navdeep Saini. These players bring depth to the domestic pool and will be crucial in helping teams structure their squads.

There is also a unique entry in the IPL auction with Malaysia’s Virandeep Singh, an India-born allrounder. He has registered with a base price of INR 30 lakh, creating an interesting storyline ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.

Franchises collectively have INR 237.55 crore to spend, which means the battle for top players will be intense. With several squads requiring major reinforcements, the IPL 2026 auction is shaping up to be a high-stakes event focused on talent, strategy and long-term planning.
