Sergio Aguero has emphasised the importance of Marcus Rashford's inclusion in England's squad for the 2026 World Cup. The Manchester United player, currently on loan at Barcelona, has become a staple in the Three Lions' line-up since Thomas Tuchel took the reins earlier this year.

Rashford's latest outing for England saw him notch an assist in a 2-0 victory over Albania. Now, he'll be aiming to maintain his impressive form in Spain as he vies for a spot at the World Cup.

Speaking about Rashford's performance in La Liga, Aguero told Stake: "I think Rashford is doing very well. He's scored goals, provided assists and looks very well adapted to the team.

"He has been among those called up by Tuchel and has had minutes. Who will be starter only Tuchel knows. Just being in the squad is very important."

Since joining Barcelona, Rashford has netted six goals and set up seven more in his first 18 matches across all competitions. The Catalan giants are currently leading La Liga, one point ahead of arch-rivals Real Madrid.

Despite the thrill of moving to Spain's second city, Rashford had previously revealed what he was most looking forward to - playing at the Camp Nou.

Upon finalising his loan move, Rashford expressed: "It's a very nice feeling. It's a beautiful stadium and when it is full it's going to be unbelievable.

"Camp Nou was always one of my favourite stadiums and one I wanted to play in. But to play on it for Barcelona is going to be a different feeling. I cannot wait to be on the pitch. I will enjoy it."

Rashford's dream came true on Saturday when he made a second-half appearance in Barcelona's match against Deportivo Alaves. This was the club's second game at the newly refurbished stadium, with Rashford missing the inaugural match due to illness.

The legendary venue has been undergoing renovations since 2023. During this period, Barcelona hosted their 'home' games at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium, which has a capacity of 55,000.

The goal for the revamped Camp Nou is to boost its seating capacity to 105,000. However, for the first two matches back, attendance was limited to 45,000. The renovation project is estimated to have cost around £1.25 billion.

Last month, Rashford returned to a Premier League pitch when Barcelona took on Chelsea in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge, a match that Enzo Maresca's team won comfortably 3-0. Back in September, the 28 year old had shone on English turf when he scored a spectacular double at St James' Park in a 2-1 victory over Newcastle.

Barcelona are not scheduled to play any more English teams in the Champions League group stage, but a knockout round encounter remains a possibility, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool all in fine form.

On the domestic front, Rashford will be focused on helping Barcelona clinch consecutive La Liga titles. If his stellar performances in Spain continue, a permanent move could well be on the cards.
