007 First Light has been hailed as one of the best Bond games ever since it came out a couple of weeks ago. The IO Interactive title was welcomed by plenty of positive reviews, with gamers and critics equally enjoying it.

There had even been talk of it launching a potential trilogy of 007 games, according to IO Interactive chief Hakan Abrak. But since its release, Amazon Game Studios' general manager Jeff Gattis seemed to suggest that it won't be IO Interactive at the helm for what comes next. Amazon MGM Studios acquired the franchise license from Eon Productions in 2025, meaning it'll be overseeing Bond games for the foreseeable future.

However, Gattis has since dropped a major hint about what might be in store for a 007 First Light sequel, clearing up his confusing comments about the series.

In an interview with IGN during Summer Game Fest, Gattis praised IO Interactive and dampened talk that Amazon Game Studios will publish a sequel.

He told IGN: "First of all, let me set the record straight for you.

"I did not confirm that Amazon Game Studios is publishing the next one. Did not say that.

"So unfortunately, it got picked up, and once it runs, it runs.

"No, IO's been great. They've been great partners.

"In fact, I was over there visiting them in Copenhagen a couple of months ago. The game's doing great.

"Let's let the game breathe and have its day."

Gattis went on to reassure players who have enjoyed 007 First Light, which has shipped 3 million copies already.

He added: "Trust that we're going to be smart about this.

"I mean, it's market appetite. As long as we feel there's a desire for players to have the game, it's safe to say it's going to be made."

A follow-up may not have been officially greenlit yet, but Gattis concluding the interview with "seems like a sequel should be made" is nothing but a positive sign for Bond fans.
