Instagram Launches 'Reorder Your Grid' Feature: Here's How It Works

Instagram has rolled out one of its most requested features yet: the ability to rearrange posts on a profile grid. The update gives users more control over how their profile appears, allowing them to rearrange posts without affecting the original publication dates. The Instagram grid is quite sacred to most users who like to maintain a certain aesthetic of their profile. With the latest update, users can organise their content however they like, making it easier to create visually appealing layouts, highlight important posts, or showcase their best work first.

The new ‘Reorder Grid’ feature arrives nearly a year after Instagram chief Adam Mosseri confirmed that the company was working on it. In fact, Meta had reportedly been exploring the idea even before the public announcement, as users have long asked for greater flexibility in curating their profiles.

How to rearrange your Instagram grid

Using the feature is pretty simple, honestly. Just open your Instagram profile, press and hold on any post in your grid, and a pop-up menu will appear. You will spot a new "Reorder Grid" option in there, tap it, and you are in. From there, it is just a matter of dragging and dropping your posts into whatever order you like.

Once you are happy with the arrangement and save your changes, they go live instantly, meaning anyone who visits your profile will see the new layout right away. And if you are wondering whether reshuffling your grid will mess with anything else, the answer is no. The feature only changes how posts appear on your profile page. Everything else, the original posting date, your captions, comments, likes, and engagement history, stays completely untouched.

This is a new way to curate first impressions

With this new feature, Instagram appears to give users more freedom to present themselves online. Whether someone wants to pin attention to a recent campaign, showcase a portfolio, organise content by theme, or simply refresh the look of their profile, the new tool offers greater flexibility without requiring users to repost content.

The new Reorder Grid feature arrives shortly after Meta introduced Instagram Plus in India, a paid subscription plan priced at Rs 299 per month. The subscription offers several additional customisation tools, including the ability to pin up to six posts on a profile, access custom app icons and bio fonts, and gain deeper insights into Story performance. While Reorder Grid is available to all users, Instagram Plus highlights Meta's growing focus on giving creators and users more control over how they present themselves on the platform.
