Ubisoft confirms Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will keep Edward Kenway's drunk animus scene

Newspoint
Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will still include the popular drunk Animus loading screen featuring pirate protagonist Edward Kenway. The clarification came after fans reacted to gameplay footage shared by Ubisoft that appeared to show a different version of the scene. Some players worried that the remake had removed the original drunken movements that became one of the memorable moments from 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Ubisoft later reassured fans that the scene would return in the updated version of the game.

Ubisoft responds after fans question new gameplay clip
The confusion started after Ubisoft shared a social media post showing what it called an “AC Black Flag Resynced drunk loading screen.” In a clip posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), Edward Kenway appeared to walk normally while the screen itself moved back and forth.

Fans quickly pointed out that the original game handled the moment differently. In Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Edward could get drunk during part of the story and stumble through the Animus loading screen.

Some users criticized the updated footage online, with one X user writing, “I'm sorry man but this is genuinely embarrassing why would you post this.” “If you can't improve on something why put in the effort to make it worse?,” said another.

A third user said, “But he's not acting or moving like he's drunk at all...”. “This is the laziest piece of shit i saw this week. Twisting the camera left and right while edward is moving normally, really?,” a fourth user said.

Ubisoft later responded with another message confirming that the classic drunken sequence would still appear in the remake.

“Keep Rum and Carry On,” lead producer Justin Ng said while sharing updated footage of the scene.

Ubisoft has also confirmed that the remake will include a no-HUD option and blood during combat. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is scheduled to launch on July 9, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
