US Charges Lawrence Bishnoi And Goldy Brar For Allegedly Ordering Nijjar's Killing In Canada

The United States has charged jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his aide Goldy Brar with allegedly ordering the assassination of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. The charges were announced as part of Operation Hardball, a coordinated international crackdown targeting three India-linked transnational organised crime groups accused of murder, extortion, narcotics trafficking and other serious crimes.Authorities across the US, Canada and Europe arrested 24 people and unsealed indictments against 37 accused. Bishnoi, currently lodged in an Indian jail, has been named in the US indictment, while Goldy Brar remains at large. The case comes nearly three years after Nijjar was shot dead outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, British Columbia. The latest development revives global attention on the Nijjar killing, which triggered a major diplomatic dispute between India and Canada after Ottawa alleged Indian involvement in the murder. India has consistently rejected those allegations as "absurd and motivated."
