Enquiry ordered as picture of baby with IV drip in Kathua hospital compound goes viral
KATHUA: After picture of an attendant carrying a child with IV drip in his lap sitting outside District Hospital Kathua, went viral on social media platforms, Chief Medical Officer, Health and Family Welfare, Kathua Dr.
As per the order issued by the CMO, Kathua, the salary of the Medical Superintendent has also been ordered to remain withheld pending inquiry in the case.
Earlier, in the day soon after the picture went viral, working of the Health Department in district Kathua came under the scanner. It was not known immediately whether the attendant was sitting there on his own or waiting there after being denied treatment by the hospital authorities.
No senior hospital authority was willing to comment on the background of the picture, which went viral.
Till the time of filing the report it could not be ascertained whether the patient was able to receive treatment or not.
Even the exact date of admission or discharge was not known immediately. As social media platforms reacted strongly on the picture, district administration responded to the situation to check rumour mongering.
Moving swiftly in the matter, CMO Kathua issued a hand written order on account of Sunday being holiday in which he stated, ” Picture which has gone viral has caused a question mark on the working of the Medical Superintendent, DH Kathua. The salary of Medical Superintendent is therefore, kept with held pending a detailed inquiry in the matter”.
